Cate Jarrett hosting at an AdAge event

The voice and the eye

Host, interviewer and art director. New York.

I build the format, direct how it looks, and I am the person asking the questions. Eight years across agency and in-house, for brands building their own media.

Most brands hire three people to make one interview series.

A creative to shape the idea. A designer to make it look like something. A host to carry it in the room. Then the day itself gets spent translating between the three of them.

I have done all three jobs for eight years, so the idea, the look and the questions come out of one head. The series sounds like one voice because it is one.

That is the whole pitch. Everything below is proof.

More about Cate

I am an art director and host based in New York. Eight years in, I have worked both sides of the table: in agencies and in-house, shaping how brands look, then being the person who brings that story to life.

On the design side that means Indeed, Red Antler, United Airlines and MetLife, including three years leading art direction for Rising Voices, Indeed's award winning BIPOC filmmaker programme with Hillman Grad and Lena Waithe's 271 Films.

Hosting has taken me to Cannes Lions, SXSW, Tribeca Film Festival, NYFW and Female Quotient events, asking the follow-up questions others skip.

The through line is that I am deeply curious about what makes people and brands the way they are. Designing a system, running an interview, shaping a story: I am looking for what feels most true underneath.
